Happy Fathers Day 2020

I was going to make a joke that Grandpa couldn't make it up the ladder -- and then I realized that after 12 years, I've never drawn a ladder into the pool.

I checked on many of the "dad jokes" that I've posted on reddit, and I discovered that I all the ones that I can probably illustrate. Well, there was one more.

After that, it would be borrowing other people's dad jokes. But, really, don't they belong to the world? Well, probably not. But a lot of Dads think alike.

Remote Viewing

Kids! Where would Dads be without them? Well, they wouldn't be Dads, I guess.

The fact that I haven't used a "remote control" joke yet surprises me. But it's probably coming soon enough.

I've thought about this "exterior House" approach for a while. I've seen it done in other comics. It made sense here so I wouldn't have to invent a new character (i.e., Bibi's father).

In case I don't get to post a comic on Sunday, Happy Fathers Day! to all the Dads out there.

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there!

Life's been a little crazy, which is why you didn't get a Friday update (which has already been written), nor has one been posted yet for today.

Somehow, I've managed to keep creating Mothers Day and Fathers Day comics, even after losing each of my parents during the years of writing this webcomic. I don't wish to stop now.

So watch this space, a Fathers Day comic will appear soon. I hope. But if not soon, then probably not at all because it will just back me up for everything else. The way it goes I guess.

Update:

Blame the older sibling! It's always the older sibling!

But if he were closing in on the Big Five-0, we (being from Brooklyn) might've called him "Yo Fat" ... or we might not have ...

Happy Fathers Day 2018!

Someone's a little envious that they don't have kids yet.
Yes, this comic is a little late because despite being "my" day, it was still a busy one getting the house ready for company. And as much as I might have wanted to relax, that wasn't going to happen for the whole of the day -- and definitely not long enough for this to appear.
Which is probably a good thing, because this strip was originally so much more complicated in my head, and yet boiled down to the same thing.
I'm sure "Dad" ("Grandpa") will appear again soon.

That's One Small Step ...

That's one small step off the couch, one giant leap over the coffee table, the television stand, the lamp, the bookcase . . .

I decided a long time ago that this comic strip (along with the blog that showcases it) could not become the Obit of the Week. I can't acknowledge every famous or historical person who may have influenced me in some way. I will try when I can -- when an idea occurs to me that fits and is something I'm capable of drawing.

That said, this is how I can pay tribute to both Neil Armstrong, a hero whose footsteps I would have loved to have followed in (and for once I can use the word literally!) and, at the same time, to my father.

Happy Birthday, Dad.

Fathers Day 2011 (featuring Super-Stickman!)

It's been a while since I posted a Super-Stickman comic.

Mostly because I didn't like the look of the scanned images and I wasn't sure how to fix them.
And partly because the story wasn't nearly as good as I remembered it.
And, by now, I would have had to have actually finished where I left off back in the 80s.
