Merry Christmas

At the in-laws, Christmas Eve has always been a fish dinner. It's called 7 fishes, but I've never counted them to know if it referred to the number of fishes or the number of fishes dishes. I've heard references to the 7 Sacraments and to the 7 Hills of Rome.

For the record, I eat some of them, but some members of the family have plain pasta with any clam sauce.

The family tried to recreate my FIL's tradition as best as they could. New traditions will be in the offing in the years ahead.

After 15 years, coming up with new set theory or Venn diagram jokes gets difficult. Granted, it's not like anyone is reading through all the old comics.

I guess I should be thankful that I only started the comics 15 years ago, or I might've need double the amount!

And, yes, temporal status is still in effect. TV shows up us that child actors grow out of their parts long before all the good stories are told. And the replacement casts just never catch on the same way.

Hitting new heights since way too long ago.

Possibly based on a true story. Well you know that it's happening somewhere, right?

Pool Reflections

Anything for an advantage.

I've wondered it, but I've checked enough to see that it doesn't happen at the "lower" higher powers. And I don't feel the need to explore farther.

Amusing aside: when I finally came up with a title for this, I was afraid I was "wasting" it because I could do reflections of the word "Pool". But then I realized that I did Daily Reflections a long time ago, so this is fine.

Michele and the baby are likely relaxing in the kiddie pool.

Finished

(C)Copyright 2022, C. Burke. "AnthroNumerics" is a trademark of Christopher J. Burke and (x, why?).

That was the year that was.

This could've been a last day comic. And then it became a pool comic because I just haven't been able to keep up. A lot of teachers couldn't keep up either this year because it seemed like we were teaching at least two year's worth of material this year. Life is crazy. Let's hope it gets back to better normal than we're at now.

Two things to note. First, I hadn't expected Michele to take the entire year off. It just sort of happened that way because, again, no time to work on any kind of story line. Second, I'm sure somewhere in my notes, if not in a comic, I gave little Miss Wayne a first name. I couldn't find it. I believe that I was going with Mary (Something), like her mother. I'll have to research this.

Bip

(C)Copyright 2022, C. Burke. "AnthroNumerics" is a trademark of Christopher J. Burke and (x, why?).

Once more to be sure. Bip.

This comic has occurred to me probably as many times as I've worried if I "bipped" the car or not. And when I bip it again just to be sure. It could also happen at a parking lot or on a residential street down the block from the store I need to go to. The alternative would be to walk back and check the door. But that would be silly.

I thought about doing this as six panels where there's a question mark at the door before he bips it again. The last panel could've been walking in front of the garden. But then I thought the idea came across with just four boxes. I hope I'm right.

Bip.

That joke washed out. Mike should try some dryer humor.

Shrink or stretch one thing, and you get a lesson in the basics. It's not like he can't read the runic symbols on the garments!

At least he can't get agitated.

This is probably the first time I put my main human characters in a "mini" comic. I've used the Anthronumerics(tm) once or twice.

Warning: don't try this at school.

Don't try it with your spouse, either.

Take your kid and let them do it to your spouse. Hilarious. (Or so I'm told.)

For longtime readers, yes, this appears to be the sister of a student Mike had a few years ago.

This is why editors like adjectives more than adverbs.

And nothings kills a family outing more than finding out that the place you wind up at isn't what you thought it was going to be.

We haven't seen Michele in a while.

And there was born a child, who would grow to be a human aerial. As did his brother.

Such was life as the youngest sibling in an old aparment with an old TV set and no antenna on the roof.

The picture was usually snowy, and you were lucky if you could a hold on a good signal.

Define your Universal Set for maximum happiness.

Welcome to Comic #1800. I usually try to do something special for the hundreds, but how could I get more special than this?

The comic I had in mind, which had nothing to do with the number or year 1800, will probably show up sometime after the holidays, if I get around to making it.

Check for dust before you change your batteries.

We use a lot of 9-volt batteries twice per year. We have a few that plug in, but then there's the problem with blackouts and power failures.

And I know know some women who would go to that extreme if it meant getting their husbands to clean more often.

Edit: As I mentioned on Twitter, writing CO2 upside down was a little difficult in that the "2" looked funny, and I knew that some might read it as "COS" because this is a math comic after all. It was because of that trouble that "S M O K E" was typed. It wasn't until many. many hours later that it occurred to me that I didn't need the "2". But I wasn't in a position to correct it, and then I forgot about it. This has finally been fixed.

14 Years!

(Click on the comic if you can't see the full image.)
(C)Copyright 2021, C. Burke. "AnthroNumerics" is a trademark of Christopher J. Burke and (x, why?).

14 years of (x, why?) and they said it couldn't happen!

Who said? I don't know. Maybe no one. Maybe me. I'm as shocked as anyone else.

Now that Moira has been established, I thought appropriate that since her ealier character was in the first classroom comic that she should be in this one. I tried to mimic some of the older style in the second panel, but it's hard to make it look that bad on purpose. I was fighting myself. But the bathroom fixtures were mostly geometric shapes, at least.

Anyway, the fifteenth year starts tomorrow. I've outlasted many more popular comics out there, and yet I'm barely known. Oddly, I no longer have a problem with that. Mostly.
