There's more than one way to meet another line, particulary when you aren't being straight.

These two lines, however, will never get together. That's just the way it is.

Happy Thanksgiving 2023!

Only one person wants that, and it's probably the one that brought it!

There are also side dishes with limited appeal, which is why there are so many side dishes, particularly with large families who are thankful that they can all be together ... right before they start picking fights, being all crammed into the same area for too long. And so it goes.

People complain and say they hate it, but I enjoy the family getting together, even when I need to walk out of the room for a minute. Just so long as there's still stuffing. And gravy. And potatoes. And ...

There could've been a series joke there ... I have to make a note for next year. After 16 years, it's hard to come up with new math-related Thanksgiving jokes. I was going to do a food pyramid. Yeah ... did that 10 years ago. Maybe I'll come up with a new take on it.

School Life 37: Even #s

(Click on the comic if you can't see the full image.)
(C)Copyright 2023, C. Burke. "AnthroNumerics" is a trademark of Christopher J. Burke and (x, why?).

That's some sharp thinking.

I did recently have to write "All the even #s" on the board recently, refering to numbered images, not actual numbers, and I wondered if everyone in class knew what the "#" symbol meant in this context. I could've asked, but some of them were too busy staring at their phones and scribbling things on their paper that looked like what I wrote on a smart board with my finger on the opposite end of the classroom (because they always sit in the back, regardless of their eyesight).

For some of new older readers, in computer lingo the # symbol is called a "hash", so a tag (a name or phrase) beginning with a hash symbol would be a "hashtag". Members of the younger generation would read their tweets and another "Hashtag" before reading the tag instead of just "hash". Shaun did just that in the comic.

Fractions within fractions! Frac! Frac! Frac!

This is a comic that didn't get made last Halloween. I'm glad I made a note of it for this year.

Yippie-yi-A! Yippie-B-C-D!

This almost was a comic about Ghost Peppers, but I wanted a Math Horror Movie before the month ran out. Plus, I couldn't buy any peppers because I didn't have any Cash on me.

Happy 10000 Years!

(Click on the comic if you can't see the full image.)
(C)Copyright 2023, C. Burke. "AnthroNumerics" is a trademark of Christopher J. Burke and (x, why?).

Happy anniversary! Bonzai!

Ten thousand years (base two) to (x, why?)!!

My initial thought was to do some kind of Sweet Sixteen comic, until it occurred to me that 16 in 10000 in binary, which meant it was ten-thousand years, which is "Binary Banzai", basically.

Also, eagle-eyed readers might've noticed that this was the second update for today. Don't ask me why, but I had it in my mind that the anniversary was a couple days away. Thankfully, I did realize my error, and I already had the comic planned (though not created) so I was able to fix this. I've pushed back the next two comics. That's right -- TWO comics.

Honestly, I'm surprised that this hasn't been done with zombies, skeletons or vampires.

I didn't have a way to make this a Math Horror Movie.

All for one and one for all, and all that, but don't be a dum-as.

There was only one person to give this literary retort, and an obvious target for it.

What did Ken say? Well, does it really matter what Ken said.

Enjoy.

Movie Functions Quiz #2

(Click on the comic if you can't see the full image.)
(C)Copyright 2023, C. Burke. "AnthroNumerics" is a trademark of Christopher J. Burke and (x, why?).

Kind(fun)

I was surprised that I did the first one of these in 2016, which was seven years ago. It got enough feedback that I knew I wanted to do it again. Not too soon, but not seven years later either. And the funny thing is that I found the original worksheet I had with enough movie titles for three or four comics.

Answers will be posted, if necessary. Probably won't be, given the internet. I checked, and there shouldn't be typos, which I was accused of last time. (In particular, I think it was "Bridge of Spies" that people were stumbling over, asking if it should've been s(b), for a different movie title, which, offhand, I forget what they thought the answer was.

Enjoy.

Vermilion

(Click on the comic if you can't see the full image.)
(C)Copyright 2023, C. Burke. "AnthroNumerics" is a trademark of Christopher J. Burke and (x, why?).

Like verdant is a color, not that verdant is like vermilion.

For those unaware, vermilion is red. It isn't green.

I was going to spell it "vermillion" in the dialogue, but I wasn't sure if it would read as a typo instead of a misunderstanding, which would make it more "mathy".

I'm aware that theis is the longest break between comics that I've ever had in these many, many years. I didn't realize just how long it was. Sadly, whatever comics occurred to me in the past month went down a memory hole. They might arise if I'm in the same situation. All I can say is, if they didn't stick with me, then I hope that they weren't worth doing in the first place.

Writing continues, and I'm near the book of completing my first pair of stories for self-publishing (in one title). I just want to be well along the way to having the second pair done before putting the first one out. I don't want readers to wait a month between episodes either.

Fair is Foul

(Click on the comic if you can't see the full image.)
(C)Copyright 2023, C. Burke. "AnthroNumerics" is a trademark of Christopher J. Burke and (x, why?).

Mike has brushed up his Shakespeare!

But I think Michele is one woman he will not wow.

This is a leftover from summer time. It should've been created at least a month ago, but as the Bard might've said, yada yada real life yada. That and the fact that I had to look up real quotes and not just what I thought might've been quotes. I would've like to have cursed the umpire's eyes or something, but nothing appropriate was jumping out at me (aside from all the websites wanted to let me know about love being blind, for example).

I'm curious what team Michele might root for, and if it's even in the major leagues. It's not like I've stated what state this takes place in. On the other hand, not a lot of minor league games get televised. Thankfully, I don't need to make that call. If I did, some of you might hate Michele for liking the wrong baseball team.

... instead of hating her for being an English teacher!

FYI: the filename on my hard drive for this image is fairisfoulball.png.
