Positive One

Like your imaginary friends, you can be the positive one.

Now, I know the value of i, but what do we know about all those b g's?

If you're wondering why I didn't do a "four i" joke, well, because I did one a looooong time ago, in January 2011.

This wasn't a good "Mike" comic and definitely not a student comic, so I fell back on the tried and true stick figures.

A little trivia: I've lived a good part of the past three decades only a few blocks from that famous street walk from Saturday Night Fever. The famed Lenny's Pizza just closed its doors recently after all those years.

I would guess that he's a teacher.

I briefly flirted with the idea of using C, J, and B for the points, but that might've been confusing.

Sentenced to Prism

(Click on the comic if you can't see the full image.)
(C)Copyright 2023, C. Burke. "AnthroNumerics" is a trademark of Christopher J. Burke and (x, why?).

I deserve a cone!

Prism is one of those words that you don't hear correctly the first time in my class. A prism's just a box. But, ironically, (or is it "coincidentally"?), a prison cell is usually in the shape of a prism.

But why does it have to be?

Probably for stacking reasons. And being able to first more cells into a block.

On the other hand, "Prismatic" usually means "colorful" with many varied and bright colors. Prisons are usually dull and muted in color, except, perhaps, for orange jumpsuits.

Math note: this started as a "Volume" comic even though it never got there.

The final comment will be "period" because it will come at the end of this sentence.

Long Lay The World...

Pining for the fjords. Or for presents. Or something.

My apologies if I've done this one before. I know I've thought it before.

It's a crazy time. I've come up with a couple of good ones, but the fact that I don't remember them a day later tells me that they weren't that memorable. I've been listening to Christmas music radio, so anything inspired by a song would reoccur to me should I hear it again. Much like the above comic.

I do have one more comic that I might start for next year because it'll take time that I don't have. Plus I have a couple other thoughts that I need to use this year.

Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday Season and a Happy New Year to everyone out there who has kept me going. I plan on updating again before Sunday, but if I don't make it, I want it printed now.

Thank you everyone. I appreciate you whether you post or not. Especially those who post when I don't make math errors, but when I do, too.

Hitting new heights since way too long ago.

Possibly based on a true story. Well you know that it's happening somewhere, right?

All natural is healthier, right?

I can blame-- er, credit Dr. Jim Preggo with telling me this a few days ago when he found out about my blog. Normally, I wouldn't use one of the basic math puns, but then the needed imagery came to me, so I went with it. Of course, it has stick figures though.

Free Buffet

(C)Copyright 2021, C. Burke. "AnthroNumerics" is a trademark of Christopher J. Burke and (x, why?).

There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. But a free punch in the face? Maybe.

Be sure to clarify which it is.

If anime and manga, characters have a tendency to scream out the ultimate moves they are about to make. When the word "buffet" comes along, it can be a little confusing at first. It doesn't mean, "eat my fists"!

Doesn't everyone?

I realize now, several hours after creating the image, seeing anything may prove difficult since neither stick figure has eyes (that we can see). But I liked how the bandana and the facial hair came out. The swords wasn't too bad either.

Suggested when I politely corrected someone who was trying to self-correct but ended on "fo-KYE".

Get the second guy some hydrogren peroxide already! Water alone isn't going to clean that cut properly.

This is a callback to A Guy Walks Into a Bar just because I felt like revisiting that old comic with this new one. That comic was so old, it was saved at a Bitmap file. I thought I'd been using .jpg or .gif ("Jif") files before moving on the .png.

As noted recently, Ken is otherwise occupied at the moment.

Three chances out of four that's true.

But truth tables mean little to nothing to some people.

For the sake of argument: some ventriloquists lie a lot without moving their lips.

Neither one was me this morning, but I was closer to the second guy.

I don't know what possesses people to stop in doorways and at the tops and bottoms of escalators, thinking that these are the best places to evaluate their surroundings.

That would also make it easier to play around with the pricing, according to what the market brings: B2G1, B3G3, etc.

On The Strip

(Click on the comic if you can't see the full image.)
(C)Copyright 2021, C. Burke. "AnthroNumerics" is a trademark of Christopher J. Burke and (x, why?).

The real twist is watching the ladies of Mobius Strip. There's no corner to stand on.

There used to be a hotel in Rye that was laid out like a Mobius strip, possibly designed by Escher. First timers could get lost following the map, so someone constructed a 3-D model to people orient themselves.

Now I'm thinking that I should update this comic to include buildings, but I don't think I allowed enough room for that.

ObMath: A Mobius strip is actually a one-sided surface and it you walk far enough, you'll go double the length of a non-twisted loop before you return to your starting point.
