Completing the Square

After 1000 comics, sometimes I surprise myself when I realize that there are puns that I still haven't used.

Also, 1017 is not a perfect square. You need to add + 7 to complete the square.

  1. If you want this particular comic to be more historically accurate, you should have only one square missing from the main figure's corner. The geometric process explains the algebraic procedure; this is how it all began with the Babylonians around 1800 BC.

    but if it were more historically accurate, there wouldn't be a crane. ;-)

    On the other hand, I'd rather it illustrated something I can use with my students. I wish I'd thought of this toward the beginning of the school year.
